Living in a quiet and peaceful place in France, far away from the hustle and bustle of big cities and the turmoil of our world, is the perfect environment for Nico to run free in his artistic passion. The nowadays 41-years old created a huge amount of artwork for the Psytrance scene, from CD covers to flyers to logos, web stuff and much more. He also created the logo for mushroom's Freakplanet tour, which you can see on the cover of this issue as well as on the party flyers.

Fabian Klaimann did everything right: In 1998 he closed down his design agency in Israel to travel around the planet for some years. This journey drew his interest to symbolism, spirituality and visionary psychedelic art which inspired him to start his alternative t-shirt label Symbolika. Today he spends the winters in Indian Goa, where he designs new clothes. In spring he moves to Israel to produce these clothes and finally he spends the summer with hopping from festival to festival to sell them.

Seit mehreren Jahren gehören sie nun zu den Pionieren des digitalen VJing, indem sie unglaubliche Träume wahr werden und auf Bildschirmen abspielen lassen. Auf sie aufmerksam geworden sind wir auf auf der Boom 2002 und der Solipse, wo sie mit ihren fantastischen Visuals die Tanzflächen verzauberten. In seinen Grafiken setzt sich Omar Rojas (27) mit der Natur, der Magie und dem menschlichem Bewusstsein auseinander. Seine Bilder sind immer ein Produkt mehrerer Techniken, wobei er einen Teil mit seinen Händen erstellt und den Rest am Computer. Die Art des Materials ist nicht wichtig für ihn, jede Art von Material bietet ihm eine Möglichkeit, sich auszudrücken. Wichtig ist Omar, Improvisation und verschiedene Techniken zu kombinieren.

Axel, alias Ornamental and formerly known as Flanger, wurde 1970 in Hamburg geboren und nach einigem hin und her ist er jetzt auch wieder in Hamburg zuhause. Seinen letzten bürgerlichen Job als Verkäufer in einem Streetwear Shop auf dem Hamburger Kiez gab er vor etwas mehr als einem Jahr auf, um mehr Zeit für die Realisierung seiner Ideen zu haben. Finanziell schägt er sich gerade irgendwie so durch, da ihm schnell klar wurde, das es in unserem kapitalistisch orientierten System eine Illusion ist, allein von der Kunst leben zu können. Zur Zeit entwirft er tribalartige Tattoo Motive, dekoriert hin & wieder mal eine Party und sieht sich nach anderen interessanten Jobs um.

oder wo kommen eigentlich die ganzen hübschen Covers her?
Wieder einmal haben wir uns auf die Suche gemacht nach den Menschen, die im Verborgenen am Gesicht der Szene werkeln. Dabei haben wir eine junge Dame gefunden, die schon seit längerem ihre gestalterische Handschrift auf CDs, Plattencovern und Flyern hinterlässt. Ihrem klaren grafischen Stil haben wir zum Beispiel zu verdanken, dass man die Tonträger von Sunset und Plastik Park auf den ersten Blick im Plattenregal erkennt. Die Designerin, die den progressiven Tönen die progressive Verpackung verpasst, heißt Cynthia. Sie ist Design-Vollprofi (siehe Lebenslauf), und sie hat uns von den Vor- und Nachteilen der Selbstständigkeit, dem Zusammenhang von Kreativität und Technik und den Herausforderungen der Grafikbranche erzählt.
