»Set 7 - Declivity«

Die gern überraschende »Set«-Serie von Iboga wird von Bakke fortgeführt, der seine Finger in die Weiten der Progwelt ausgestreckt und ein tribal elektroides Trance-Kaleidoskop zwischen 125 bis 135 Beats zusammengestellt hat. Von der Papierform liest sich das ganz groß, doch Lish, Freq und Sleek aka Liquid Soul liefern eher mittellaue B-Tracks, und auch sonst hält sich das Niveau im üblichen Maß und wird dem Anspruch von Iboga nicht wirklich gerecht. Erwähnenswert sind zwei Tracks, der schön perkussive Opener »Emotion« von Tomic und der Track »Exophilia« von Bakkes Freundin Paulina Cewe aka Gen6; genau, jene rothaarige schwedische DJ-Granate vom Prog-Floor der letzten Voov. Die junge Dame mit dem Ruf einer Techno-DJane serviert einen sehr dichten, fast stürmenden, obsessiven, klassisch zugeschnittenen Tribal-Track im Soundspace zwischen Freq und Jaia, nirgends langweilig, mit immer wieder funktionierenden Breaks brilliant aufgebaut. Obwohl nur 135 Sachen schnell, verträgt er es gut, sogar etwas gedrosselt zu werden.

The always surprising »Set« series on Iboga is being continued by Bakke, who has dipped his fingers into the wide span of the progressive world and has put together an electro-esque trance kaleidoscope between 125 and 135 beats. Looks great, however Lish, Freq and Sleek aka Liquid Soul deliver half cooked b-side tracks, and the remaining tracks also don't fully live up to the usual standards of Iboga. There are two tracks worthy of mention, the beautiful percussive opener »Emotion« by Tomic and the track »Exophilia« by Bakkes girlfriend Paulina Cewe aka Gen6. Exactly, the red haired Swedish DJane attack from last year‘s Voov Alternative Floor. This young lady, with the reputation of a techno DJane, presents us with a very dense, almost rolling, obsessive and classically laid out tribal track in a sound space between Freq and Jaia. Not losing one's interest for a moment it builds up brilliantly with always functional breaks. Although it's only 135 bpm it handles being pitched down very well.
